South German Schreibschrank tabernacle bureau, Baroque, possibly Dresden. In three sections which rest atop each other. Center arch and swan's neck pediments over a central cabinet compartment with a marquetry door depicting a classical woman carrying an urn. The interior of the cabinet with shelves and one drawer. Cabinet is flanked by 5 drawers each. Cylinder desk top is opened by pulling the desk surface, which is inset with leather. Desk interior with drawers and compartments. Banded inlay at sides. String, burl, and flame figured inlays at desk cylinder and drawer faces. The lower section with three locking drawers. Later fitted circular wreath motif brass drawer pulls, recently replaced leather desk surface insert. All resting on tapered square feet. Two keys included. Apparently unsigned and unmarked. 84.5 x 47.25 x 16 inches.
Condition
