Signed at undersides. Marshall was educated in England, Columbia University, and attended graduate school at the City University of Fine Art in Kyoto, Japan (Kyoto Geijitsu Daigaku). He was a consultant for the National Endowment for the Arts, a member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen since 1971 and has won many awards for work in ceramics and lighting, among which was a dinner service for use in the White House.
