After Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe, 6 MR Chairs, (5 MR10 and 1 MR20), steel tube, nickel-plated, woven cane, mid to late 20th century reproductions, after the originals which were designed in Germany, 1927, 30.5 x 19 x 28 inches, unmarked but possibly by Stendig. By the End of 1926, the German-American architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe developed after the first ‘Kragstuhlentwurf’ by Dutchman Mart Stam the so called ‘Weissenhof chair’. By using a curved instead of square pipe, in an ingeniously simple way the first resilient cantilever originated, described as MR10, which is still considered to be one of the classics of tubular steel furniture within the Bauhaus period.
