7 prints from the Espartaco Portfolio, 1961, includes 2 prints by Carlos Sessano, Juan Manuel Sanchez and Mario Mollari, and one by Juana Elena Diz (the other one by her is not included), published by Ediciones Joraci, Buenos Aires, Argentina, lithographs on wove paper made from the original woodcut (Xylograph/Xilografia), each one is signed by the artist and numbered 426/500 in blue ink to the bottom, sheets 18.75 x 12.75 inches, housed in the original portfolio that also includes the title page, introduction in Spanish by Raul Gonzalez Tunon (Pintura de Nuestro Tiempo), a photo of the artists and brief bios and the numbered colophon. The Movimiento Espartaco [Spartacus Movement] existed from 1959 to 1968 and was named in homage to the Spartacus League, a German labor movement of Marxist origin led by Rosa Luxemburg. It was founded by a young group of Argentinian artists who wanted to mix traditional methods with critical, avant-garde imagery. This appears to be the only set of prints that they published collectively. Despite the large edition size, there's very little on the internet about this portfolio, including just a few scant auction results or sales listings. It is not listed in OCLC.
