Anuszkiewicz, After Richard (American 1930-2020), The Fourth of Three, circa 1962, screenprint on canvas, 36 x 36 inches, unmarked and unsigned, Provenance: Brentano's Bookshop in New York, framed in silver metal, This piece "Fourth of the Three' is the Richard Anuszkiewicz painting that was on the cover of the Whitney Museum of American Art in its 1962 exhibition "Geometric Abstraction in America" which was in the 1963 Annual Exhibition. This foundational piece has been claimed to be the launching on Anuszkiewicz's fame as one of the founding fathers of American Op-Art. We're not sure what Anuszkiewicz's relationship to the production of this item is. Anuszkiewicz had to have approved the production of the piece and received royalties for the sales.
