Watson, Alfred (American 1916-2003), Smokescreen [High Noon], 1941, vintage print likely a bromoil or another printing technique championed by the Photo Society of America Annual Exhibitions, 16.5 x 13.5 inches, signed in pencil and titled on the mount underneath the image, framed measuring 27 x 23.5 inches. A significant pictorialist/Salonist photograph of Pittsburgh at its most air polluted. Although the sun is high in the sky, it is barely visible in this image of a Pittsburgh rail yard taken while Watson was on his lunch break from the Hagen Corporation.
