Antique Italian silver hand painted portrait pin. Painted against a black ground, a female figure with golden brown hair swept back and wrapped in strands of pearls and ribbons. She wears a red dress trimmed in black. Signed in red paint "MR". The oval portrait is encased in silver frame with domed glass, attached halo of silver and 4 bands of twisted silver decoration. A delicate strand of twisting gold vermeil wraps around the silver frame. Finished with a pin back and attached pendant bail. Measures 1 1/2" in length, 3/8" wide. Marked "800" on the back of the pin as well as the attached halo frame.
