Buffet, Bernard (French, 1928-1999), Landscape with Gallows, 1951, graphite on tracing paper, signed in pencil lower right, image 5.5 x 9.25 inches, framed 14.5 x 17.5 inches, verso with cut out description "Original Tracing" by Bernard Buffet To Illustrate "Les Chants De Maldoror" and two original labels. This work is a tracing made by Buffet of his original drawing, which was used for his drypoint illustrations in the 1952 edition of Les Chants de Maldoror by Comte de Lautreamont, and is not the original work.
