A group of 8 sterling silver Bernice Goodspeed iced tea straws, Taxco Mexico, 1950s. 4 in a stylized fish motif, and 4 in a stylized leaf motif. Stamped Taxco Mexico Sterling with B mark. 8.25 inches. Approximately 1.99 ozt. Bernice Goodspeed was an American anthropologist and silversmith. Together with her husband, artist Carl Pappe, Goodspeed opened a studio and gallery in Taxco Guerrero, Mexico, where they sold a combination of Carl’s original works and pre-Columbian artifacts. From this endeavor, she was inspired to create her own pieces crafted from silver, drawing inspiration from Pre-Columbian motifs. Provenance: purchased by Katherine Reed Frazer, and thence by descent to Barbara Frazer Lowe.
