Vonnoh, Bessie Potter (American, 1872-1955), Mother and Child, A Study, early 20th century, metal sculpture filled with plaster, deep brown patina, signed and dated 1907 on the base, no foundry mark, etched COL2674137559 on the underside, 8 x 5.75 x 6.75 inches. This work is part of a series of small works depicting the theme of motherhood which were originally executed by the artist in the early 1900s.

Condition

In good condition, some areas of light oxidation and tarnishing; bits of the plaster filling starting to fall off.
