Patla, Robert (Bob) (American/Pittsburgh, 1953-1989), Pair of Drawings: Back of the Chair and Chair Close Up, 1980s, ink on thick paper, signed lower right, sheet size 29 x 23 inches, unframed. The pencil grid lines mean that this was likely a mock up for one of his many newspaper illustrations. Patla was a Pittsburgh artist who did design work for the Post-Gazette, and, most famously, Peter Leo's column. He also showed his work with the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh and Mendelson Gallery through the 1980s. His graphic style was an influence on Burton Morris. Patla died at the age of 36 from complications from abdominal surgery.
