Van Loo, Carle (Charles) (French/Italian 1705 - 1765), Pygmalion and Galatea (or Venus Descending), red chalk on blue grey paper mounted to a thin board, 16 x 10.25 inches; stamp of "S r I R" to lower margin and old pencil notes and label on reverse attribute this as Venus Descending from the Sir Joshua Reynolds Collection. Provenance: Rifkin-Young Fine Arts, Riverdale N.Y.; The Estate of Marc and Lillian Raeff, Tenafly N. J., framed in a gilded wood and silk mat frame measuring 25 x 19 inches.
