Shearer, Christopher High (German/American/Western Pa. 1846 - 1926), The Big Tree, 1892, oil on canvas, 24 x 42 inches, signed and dated lower left, framed in a rustic wood frame , 32 x 50 inches.
In good condition apart from lining and two areas where it has released slightly; evidence of old inpainting to the sky and a vertical section to the right edge; also a 4.5 inch repaired tear at the bottom of the trunk of the smaller tree to the right of the main tree.
