Collection of late 20th century Bill Strickland and American Studio Pottery. Includes: large lidded vessel with handles, 13 x 10 inches; deep dish, 2.25 x 11.5 inches; large bowl with handles, 6.25 x 21 inches. All signed at undersides. Strickland attended the University of Pittsburgh, where as an undergraduate he founded the Manchester Craftsmen's Guild. Following graduation, he continued to build the Manchester Guild into an innovative nonprofit agency that uses the arts to inspire and mentor inner-city teenagers. He has served on the boards of the National Endowment for the Arts, Mellon Financial Corporation, and the University of Pittsburgh. Strickland has won various awards including a MacArthur Fellowship genius award. He has been honored by the White House, and received the Goi Peace Award. Provenance: The Diana Jannetta Collection. Jannetta was an esteemed collector of decorative and fine arts, known for her discerning eye and dedication to preserving artistic excellence. A lifelong advocate for the arts, she assembled a distinguished collection featuring paintings, sculptures, and craft.
