Single Twist Confederate Civil War Battle Bugle, 17.5 inches length overall including the mouth piece. Classic period construction with a reinforcing band on the lower edge, 2 loops for ribbons on inner twist edge, Provenance: 1st Lt. Frederick Geiger at the Battle of Smoky Woods; The Estate of Henry (Harry) Grant Pittsburgh Pa.; Lt. Geiger was great grandfather to Harry Grant; The Battle was 150 Union soldiers led by Colonel William J. Palmer of the 15th Pennsylvania Cavalry marched through the Smoky Mountains and down Fighting Creek to the edge of Gatlinburg. A skirmish broke out on Burg Hill, and the outnumbered Confederate forces under Major Thomas quickly retreated along Dudley Creek.
