Russell, Donn (American, born 1929), Ragtime Musicians, oil on canvas, 30 x 25 inches, signed lower left, Born in Boston of an artistic family, Donn Russell attended the Boston Museum School, then Pratt Institute, the School of Visual Design and the Art Students League in New York City. A top award at a National Academy of Design Annual Exhibition garnered Russell’s first public acclaim, followed by awards from Silvermine Guild Arts Center, the New Museum, Audubon Artists, among others. His work has been presented in galleries and museum exhibitions in the US and abroad. Russell has been featured in many art and architecture publications, and has illustrated for the New York Times Book Reviews, The New Yorker, Time, Life and Fortune.
