Andrade, Edna (American, 1917-2008), Geneve Bleu, 1974, screenprint on paper, initialed and numbered 17/25 in the lower left, 26 x 39 inches, in a silver metal frame 27 x 40 inches. Printed by Daniel Staudhemmer, Dou D'Art, Switzerland. Provenance: from the personal collection of art historian Ann Sutherland Harris, Pittsburgh, PA. Harris authored the text for a 1993 catalog of Andrade's work titled 'Cool Waves and Hot Blocks: The Art of Edna Andrade.' The show also travelled to Austin, Brooklyn and Pittsburgh, and helped to open up the field of women’s studies in the discipline. Harris was a founding member and first president of the Women’s Caucus for Art. She wrote nine books and exhibition catalogues (including works on Artemisia Gentileschi and Alice Neel), more than a hundred articles and reviews, and was part of the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh from 1984-2012.
