Cooper, Emma Esther Lampert (American 1855 - 1920), Sun dappled Italian Village, watercolor, 10 x 13.25 inches, signed lower left, framed in a cove style gilded wood frame measuring 20.5 x 28.5 inches, Emma Lampert was born in Nunda, NY in 1855. Following graduation from Wells College, she studied in New York City at the Art Students League under Wm M. Chase and at the Cooper Union, with Harry Thompson in Paris, and J. Kever in Holland. She traveled widely after her marriage to artist Colin Campbell Cooper in 1897. After coming to California to attend the Panama Pacific International Exposition, she and her husband spent the winter in Los Angeles. Mrs. Cooper died in Pittsfield, NY on July 30, 1920. Her oils and watercolors include still lifes and scenes from her world travels.
