Enzo Mari for Gavina Glifo shelving system, 1967, Italian. The interlocking white plastic panels form cubes, which can be arranged to form an almost infinite number of shapes. Marked Gavin, Enzo Mari, 1967, Made in Italy, Patented, Albaplast. Each block is 15.25 x 15.25 x 14.5, measurements are 73.75 x 44.25 x 14.5 inches when assembled in a rectangular form. An example of this shelving system was shown in the 2020 retrospective Enzo Mari Curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist with Francesca Giacomelli at the Triennale Milano, which paid tribute to Mari, one of the masters of Italian design. Mari passed away aged 88 in October 2020, days after the show initially opened. Prior to his death, he requested that—after the exhibition—his work not be shown in public for another 40 years.
