Late 18th or early 19th century Continental School, Landscape with Boat, Village and Hillside, unsigned, oil on board, 9.5 x 12.5 inches, framed 15 x 17 inches. Provenance: The estate of Donald T. Mervine, Western Pennsylvania, sold to benefit the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. A very faint old pencil note on the verso seems to mention that this is on the Elbe River that runs through Czechia and Germany.
In fair condition, with a heavy layer of surface grime and dirt; UV reveals touching up to the structures in the center of the painting plus very small areas mostly along the edges.
