Pershing, 1919, Government Printing Office, inscribed by Pershing to Judge James Hay Reed on the title page, hardcover, rebound in full blue morocco by Gruel of Paris with their stamp to the front pastedown, gilt ruled, gilt titles, raised bands, image of the French and American flags mingling on the front board, gilt and silk dentelles, 95 pp., plus 16 plates in the rear, many of which fold out. James H. Reed was a personal friend and close advisor to Andrew Carnegie. He started the law firm that is now known as Reed Smith. Laid is a letter from Senator David Aiken Reed on his US Senate letterhead gifting the book, now with its fancy new binding, back to his parents.
