Finely cast Louis XVI Hefsen mantel clock, French, 18th century. 31 day clock. Surmounted by a sunburst macaron surrounded by wreaths. White marble body. Marked Hefsen Horloger De Monseier on the clockface. Movement engraved Hefsen. 17.75 x 13 x 5.25 inches. Provenance: Collection of a Pittsburgh Gentleman, Pittsburgh, PA.
The clock is in overall good condition. The marble is chipped and discolored in some areas. Some wear to the finish is visible. One nail each is missing from two decorative mounts, but they remain secure. There are some minor chips on the clock face. The screw that attaches the round bell is missing. Some parts possibly replaced. The movement appears to be complete, but has not been completely taken apart and fully inspected.
