A smoky period piece drawn by Freas while he attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Freas' first commercial cover art didn't appear until Weird Tales in November, 1950, but he would then go on to gain tremendous fame as an illustrator for Mad Magazine, as well as countless Science Fiction and record cover projects. Provenance: acquired directly from the agent of the Freas estate. In good condition, crease to lower right corner, inked number 6 in upper right; verso with evidence of previous mounting, but not visible on the front; magazine in fair condition, with tearing to the spine and light soil.
