Lehmann, Gregoire (Russian/French, 1834-1901), Portrait of a Lady, late 19th century, oil on canvas, signed in red paint upper right, 21.5 x 17.5 inches, in a newer wood frame 24 x 20 inches. Provenance: estate of art historian Aaron Sheon, Pittsburgh, who was best known for his 1978 monograph and exhibition catalog on Adolphe Monticelli and his groundbreaking research on Vincent van Gogh. Lehmann was a successful Russian-born Parisian portrait painter whose work shows the influence of Gustave Courbet.
