Neal, Harold (African-American/Detroit, 20th century), Taut Figure Study, c.1970s, pastel on board, signed lower right 13.5 x 10.75 inches, matted and framed 21.5 x 17.5 inches. Provenance: collection of a Pittsburgh Artist. Born in Memphis, African American painter Harold Neal eventually settled in Detroit and created some of the most forceful artistic statements of the Civil Rights, Black Power and Black Arts Movements. He had an exhibit titled Portraits and Figure Studies, at the University of Pittsburgh Art Gallery in 1972.
