Levit, Herschel (American, 1912-1986), Age of Anxiety, 1952, two color linocut on paper, signed, titled, numbered 7/20 and inscribed by the artist in pencil to lower margin, full sheet 17 x 10 inches, floated in a frame 26 x 20.5 inches. This print was submitted to the 1952 juried show American Water Colors, Drawings and Prints at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (original label affixed to reverse). While this print was not chosen for inclusion by the jury, Levit's drawing Ceremony was selected. Provenance: A Pittsburgh/New York City family (i.e., Nathan and Nadia); acquired directly from the artist. Levit was a mid century Modernist Jewish painter from New York.
