Miro, Joan (illustrator), Lise Hirtz (text), Il Etait une Petite Pie, 1928, number 169 of 300 copies, this one of the 280 on Arches, complete with 8 color pochoir prints after the original gouaches by Miro, the very first illustrations he ever made for a book and his first interaction with printmaking, published by Edition Jeanne Bucher, Paris, sheets 13 x 9.5 inches, originally issued with loose sheets in a folder this copy has been amateurishly bound in blue boards with the illustrated pages tipped-in along the right side of the verso to thin paper attached to a cardboard spine, part of the original front cover has been mounted to the front board, and the rear board has a homemade design with color paper. CRAMER (Books) 1, DUPIN 1-8. Provenance: from the estate of Leon and Jane Arkus. Leon was the Director of the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, from 1969 to 1980.

Crudely rebound, but with the sheets In good condition overall, a few with minor soil from handling along the edges; the first and last pages are still attached to the boards, but the rest have come loose; it appears that the 8 pochoir prints could be removed from their binding without causing any issues to the printed side.
