Hoffman, Irwin D. (American/Boston, 1901-1989), Coal Miner's Cigarette Break, undated, c.1930s, oil on canvas, signed lower right, 38 x 24 inches, in a newer black painted wood frame 44.5 x 30.5 inches. A WPA era labor portrait. Provenance: Artist's estate to the Boston Public Library Trustees; Walker Cunningham Fine Art; Private collection; Marion Antique Auctions, Marion MA.
In overall good condition, apart from scattered areas of light crazing that's most visible in the figure's midsection.
