Rosenquist, James (American, 1933-2017), Off the Continental Divide, 1973-1974, lithograph, signed, titled and dated in pencil, editioned Printer's Proof 2/2 (aside from the regular edition of 43), sheet size 43 x 78 inches, floated in a wood frame 51 x 87.5 inches. Published and printed by Universal Limited Art Editions (ULAE), New York. Other impressions of this print are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Art Institute of Chicago, Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, and the Tate among other major institutions. At the time Rosenquist was considering his next career move. As he wrote in his autobiography, 'One way or another, you leave your home, you slip off the Continental Divide, which goes east or west… Originally I had decided to go east but now I asked myself, where am I?'
