Provenance: Harry Eichleay, Pittsburgh, with his gallery stamps on the stretcher bar. A rare early view of Pittsburgh, painted prior to the construction of most of downtown's most familiar buildings. The green foreground, dotted with homes, is juxtaposed by the smoky industry of the burgeoning city in the background.
