Diminutive sterling & 14K yellow gold "seed pot" sculpture. The artist is a Santo Domingo Pueblo silversmith known for his story telling decorative language, often highlighting the pieces with touches of yellow gold. The diminutive Native American seed pot is highly polished with a ring of curved vignettes. The vignettes encircle the top of the pot and feature adobe buildings/homes, starry skies, 14K yellow gold crescent moon and smoking chimney on one side. While the remaining design features corn stalks and corn cobs, a star and full moon in 14K yellow gold. The surface beneath the polished figures is deeply incised and blackened. A cutwork cornstalk figure appears to sprout from inside the pot. The stalk is engraved. Measures 1 5/8" diam., 1 1/2" tall. Marked "JDC 14K Sterling". Approx. 47.4 grams.
