Klieger, Joseph (American/Pittsburgh, 20th century (1913-1979?)), Pittsburgh Sky Glow [Hills at Sunset], 1947, oil on board, signed and dated at lower right. Board 24 x 20 inches, in a 25.25 x 21 inch wooden frame. Exhibited: Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, 28th annual exhibition, 1948; tape shadow from the original label (which is no longer present) on the back. Little info is available on Klieger, but an article in an October 1930 issue of the Jewish Criterion mentions that Klieger, alongside fellow students Milton Weiss and Leonard Lieb, was selected to paint a mural in the lobby of the Irene Kaufmann Settlement Art School building in the Hill District.
