Haring, Keith (American, 1958-1990), World Tour Cap and Buttons, 1984, offset embroidered stitching on white painter's style cap and metal buttons, hat 10 x 8 inches, buttons measure 1 inch in diameter. Keith studied commercial art from 1976 to 1978 at Pittsburgh's Ivy School of Professional Art. He had a maintenance job at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and had his first significant one-man exhibition there in 1978. Provenance: purchased from Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in 1984 during exhibition New Attitudes: Paris/New York curated by Sande Deitch and Tseng Kwong Chi. Exhibition featured works by artists Keith Haring, Herve di Rosa, Kenny Scharf, Tseng Kwong Chi, Samantha McEwen and others.
Condition
In good condition with some color loss to the buttons, plus small staining to the especially to cap's front left side and underside of cap's brim.
