Keuffel and Esser Thacher cylindrical slide rule with wood end caps, affixed to wooden base, Model 4012, serial 6522. Early 20th century. 5.75 x 23.5 x 6.25 inches. Base marked 4012, 6522, Keuffel & Esser NY, trademark, and label reading Smith Co, Pittsburgh, PA. Paper label with directions and operational rules affixed to base. Housed in wooden case with latched lid, front label reading Keuffel & Esser Co. Accompanied by Table of Areas. Provenance: Used in the production of wrought iron at Lockhart Iron & Steel Company, Pittsburgh, PA.
Slide rule with age appropriate wear. Scratches along left numeric label on outer cylinder. Toning to paper labels. Burn marks and scratches to base. Directions label partially torn. Box with upper lid and base panels separating at front, scratches and discoloration throughout, and crack to base panel. Accompanying Table of Areas ripped with missing portions.
