Large lot of Books about Typography and Calligraphy, includes the rare portfolio A Retrospective Exhibition of American Trademarks from 1945 to 1963 for a show at Society of Typographic Arts, Chicago, 1968, loose sheets in slipcase; the 1973 Grolier Club edition of The Maya Scribe by Michael Coe; two books in German about Hermann Zapf; A Newe Booke of Copies, 1959 facsimile of a 1574 Elizabethan Writing Book; and Our Calligraphic Heritage, The Geyer Studio Writing Book, book, folder and loose sheets housed in slipcase, number 255 of 2500 signed by the author and calligrapher Ismar David. Total of 6 books. Provenance: deaccessioned from a regional institution; will include a letter of deaccession from the institution.

Condition

Ex-library books, with varying degrees of markings, including Withdrawn stamps; Trademarks the most heavily stamped and slipcase is in poor condition; Zapf book in blue binding in fair condition, with some pages having come loose from the binding; Maya with title handwritten on bottom edge of text-block, otherwise unmarked.
