Louis Vuitton, Antique Ladies Steamer Trunk, c.1900-1910, monogrammed canvas, wood slats, leather reinforced corners, brass handles, buckles and rivets, red label on the inside with 1 Rue Scribe Paris and 149 New Bond St. London addresses, stamped serial number 129609, almost all of the brass parts are stamped Louis Vuitton, the lock stamped BTE S.G.D.G. PATENT, LOUIS VUITTON, 1. RUE SCRIBE PAIRS, 149. NEW BOND STREET LONDON, MADE IN FRANCE, linen lined interior, with 2 original trays, straps and divider, two leather labels from the exterior are present but detached, 4 roller wheels does not include key. ARB and red circle painted on each side. Trunk measures 23 x 32 x 20 inches. An early LV production, with the red label showing only the Paris and London addresses. As a small bonus, this trunk comes with a few items from its original owner, including two 1919 issues of Vogue magazine plus a handwoven basket that includes linens and ladies decorative items.
In good antique condition, with a number of small issues from age appropriate usage. 2 leather labels at the front are detached, but present; scratches, scuffs and abrasions throughout; heavy wear and areas of loss to leather corner at front left; hardware in good shape, latches close; key not included; some spotting to the interior; lacking 3 rivets on the padding at the underside of the lid; one the trays with torn handles.
