Ray, Man (Emmanuel Radnitzky) (American/French, 1890-1976), La Dame de Trefle (Queen of Clubs), 1970, etching and pochoir in white ink on black paper, signed and numbered 100/120 in pencil to the lower margin, image size 19 x 13.5 inches, matted and framed 33.5 x 27.5 inches. Steve says: Man Ray has always been an idol of mine. Like him, I found my true self in the streets and hearts of Paris. Like him, I experimented with photography and art and Dada and Surrealism. Unlike him, I cannot be considered one of the founders of Modern Art, along with his friend Marcel Duchamp. But, I have worked with Marion Meyer, his art dealer, curator and friend and Francis Naumann, who has written books about him. Through them I have gained much insight into his prints, sculptures, drawings and paintings.
