Leisser, Martin B. (American/Western PA, 1848-1940), The Lace Makers, 1890, oil on canvas, relined, signed and dated lower left, 17 x 26 inches, in a gold painted wood frame 20.75 x 29.5 inches. One of Leisser's few known interior paintings, and possibly a scene from the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf or Blind. Provenance: The personal collection of Gary S. Grimes, Pittsburgh. Gary was an expert on Western Pennsylvania art, and especially the Scalp Level painters.
