Raphael, Orin (American/Pittsburgh, 1918-1995), Custom Mid Century Modern Sideboard and Corner Shelf, c.1950s, walnut body with oak handles, 6 pull out drawers, 2 sliding cabinet drawers and open space on the left for a speaker (or books, or a vase, etc.), sideboard measures 32 x 79 x 18.75 inches, the back is finished but the right edge is not; the shelf extends from the upper front right corner and is meant to run along a wall, white laminate top, 93 inches long, the depth goes from 23 inches and tapers down to 14 inches, includes 3 original wood mounting brackets. Provenance: Custom made in the 1950s for a home in Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh. Along with Herb Seigle, Orin Raphael was the premiere interior decorator of modern Pittsburgh homes. In good condition, white paint transfer on the back; small repaired nicks at upper right edge; shelf with light staining.
