Pair of signed Manabu Saito (d. 2018) offset lithographs, mid/late 20th century. Both pencil signed and numbered 91/1500 at lower left edge of image, in plate artist stamp and signature at lower right. Manabu Saito was born in Tokyo, Japan. He went on to study industrial design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, receiving a degree in 1957. During his travels, he would frequently paint flowers and plants he encountered. In 1970, he stepped away from industrial design to become a botanical artist and illustrator. As a professional botanical artist, his work was featured in several publications, including National Geographic, Horticulture, and Audubon. Nicely matted and in gilt frames, behind glass, 29 x 24 inches.
Condition
Prints in overall good condition unexamined outside of the frame. Matting slightly discolored. Frames scratches in some areas. One with hot glue at upper left corner of frame.
