Yellin, Samuel (Ukrainian/American, 1884-1940), Pair of Twin Bed Frames, 1924, these were commissioned by Edgar Kaufmann for his Fox Chapel Home, La Tourelle, where Samuel Yellin did a number of wrought iron commissioned works. 2 sets of wrought iron twin bed frames with side rails and foot boards, the headboard featuring three ibex like birds standing on posts with spirals side decorations and signature Yellin decorative embellishments. Headboard 59.25 x 52 x 3.5 inches, Footboard 43 x 51.25 x 3.5 inches. See the photos at the end of our listing for images of Yellin's original drawings of these pieces. These photos were kindly provided to us by the Architectural Archives of the University of Pennsylvania, from the Kaufmann Residence section of their Samuel Yellin archive.

Condition

with extensive oxidation and rust layer, two birds said to be missing from end posts and bending and twisting especially to the second set and side rails. Beds were said to have been in a fire at the Kaufmann Home and damaged during the fire. Merchandise will be packed and transported by the purchaser at their own risk and expense.
