Ludick, Paul (American, b. 1957), Sling Chair Prototype, late 1980s, cold rolled steel and muslin, apparently unsigned. 38.75 x 18.75 x 23 inches. Ludick was part of the Art et Industrie movement, which began in the late 1970s. The movement challenged the concept of function vs. design in furniture making within the United States. Ludick exhibited at Art et Industrie, Bernice Steinbaum Gallery, and Magen H Gallery among others. His works are part of both private and public collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago and the San Francisco Museum of Art. Provenance: Acquired from the artist. In very good condition.
