20th century American School, Point, Texas Railroad Station, mid 20th century, oil on canvas, signed lower left, artist's initials appear to be LG, 18 x 24 inches, unframed. Point, Texas was settled circa 1880 as a flag station on a section of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) Railroad being built from Mineola to Greenville. The name submitted for a post office was initially Rice's Point, in honor of early area settler William Rice. When that was rejected, the name Point was accepted. Provenance: The personal collection of Edward J. Grzybowski. Ed was co-owner of Tri-State Antiques in Canonsburg. He was well known and respected in the field for his vast knowledge of antiques and decorative arts, particularly 20th century design.
Condition
