Archive of ephemera related to the Carnegie International, a recurring exhibit at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh that began in 1896. Includes: 3 booklets given to prospective artists who wanted to submit work to the 1899, 1906 and 1907 exhibitions, the booklets include the name of committee members, trustees, past award winners, etc, the 1906 and 1907 editions have the original registration form bound-in at the back that an artist would include with their painting, booklets 6 x 4.5 inches, stringbound wraps, 1899 edition with repair to spine, booklets letterpress printed in black and red, with text in English and French. Also includes small card with affixed photo of the Carnegie Institute, 1907, and a label addressed to director John W. Beatty with a blank label affixed to the back. Provenance: from the collection of watercolorist Ross Sterling Turner, with his signature to an interior page of each booklet. Turner's work was selected for the 1897, 1900 and 1905 Carnegie Internationals. Rare and early pieces of Pittsburgh art history.
Condition
In good condition; one with neat spine repair, one with soiling to the front wrap; otherwise light condition issues to the wraps.
