Twiggs, Russell Gould (American/Western, PA, 1898 - 1991), Genuflection, 1968, oil on canvas, 26.5 x 26.5 inches, signed Twiggs lower left and signed and titled on the canvas reverse and on paper labels, strip frame. Twiggs was on the faculty at Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon University), Pittsburgh, PA, and a founding member of Group A, the collective of Pittsburgh abstract painters that also included Samuel Rosenberg, Balcomb Greene and Robert Lepper.
