Davis, Selden I. (American/Pittsburgh, 1904-1971), Birds in Alley, c. 1940s, gelatin silver print, signed front lower right, titled and dated at reverse upper left, 9.5 x 7.5 inches, framed 21.25 x 17.25 inches. Selden I. Davis was an American photographer from Wilkinsburg whose work shed light on the post war industrialism of Pittsburgh. He was an active participant in the photographic salons in the 1940s and '50s and participated in the country's oldest Pictorialist group, The Photographic Section of the Academy of Science and Art in Pittsburgh, now known as the Pittsburgh Photography Club.
