Shakyamuni with Two Hundred Buddhas Thangka, Tibet, 16th century or earlier, gouache on cotton, 27 x 22.5 inches, in a cherry wood frame 37 x 31.5 inches, gold painted Buddha and spheroid aureole, accompanied by two standing bodhisattvas and bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara and Padmasambhava above, seated peacefully atop lotus base supported by snow lions, also with griffins on elephants and geese, surrounded by 200 identical sitting Buddhas, likely placing this as one of a set of 5 thangkas that would combine to show the 1,000 Buddhas.
