Martyl, Suzanne Schweig Langsdorf (American, 1917/1918-2013), Spring Green, 1963, Liquitex gesso ground with polymer acrylic paint, oil and polymer, 28 x 40.25 inches, signed lower right, Martyl, signed and dated with the artist's monogram on canvas reverse. Provenance: Miles Laboratory Collection, Elkhart In. (manufacturer of Alka Seltzer), Langsdorf is best known for the “Doomsday Clock” image on the cover of the June 1947 issue of Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists (her husband was Alexander Langsdorf, Jr. (1912-1996) who worked on The Manhattan Project).
