Photograph of an Apollo 12 astronaut walking on the moon. Inscribed at bottom by Thomas Otten Paine, the Administrator of NASA from March 1969 to September 1970, to Marilyn Z., a NASA representative to Europe. C-Print, 11 x 13.75 inches in a velvet lined frame measuring 22 x 25 inches, a b&w photo of Paine has been inserted under the glass as well. A rare image, showing either astronaut Pete Conrad or Alan Bean with the lunar module Intrepid in the background. The inscription is warm and playful; Paine going as far as putting his and Marilyn's initials inside of a heart. Apollo 12 left Earth on November 14, 1969 and returned safely 10 days later. Paine was administrator, the highest ranked official of NASA, during the first seven Apollo manned missions, including Apollo 11.
