Toyokuni 3rd (aka Kunisada, Japanese, 1786-1864), Pair of woodblocks from Flourishing of Edo Pictures Depicting Dances (Odori keiyo Edo-e no sakae), 1858, color woodblocks on paper, these are the two outer sheets from a triptych (missing the center sheet), each sheet 14.5 x 10 inches, framed together 19 x 25.5 inches, a striking portrayal of the interior of a Kabuki theater, with very detailed individual portraits. Provenance, Brian Page Antiques, London.
